Following up on my icky freak-out from earlier this week, North Cak-a-lacky’s sewer herpes has turned out to be a bunch of worms.
Carolina’s News 14 has posted a story with quotes from local utilites stating that the pulsing sacs in Cameron Village are colonies of Tubifex Worms, a common denizen of sewers no matter where you are which is also used as fish food. The colonies, which were viewed via a small robot in the pipe during a routine inspection, are actually smaller than a tennis ball. The heat from the light source on the robot caused the colonies to react to the light, creating the pulsing effect in the video. The worms do not effect the quality of the water, so everyone get go get the glass of water before night-night.
Still, that’s a pretty disgusting thing to be seeing in your pipes.
